Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the group reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
