Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.
Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is his maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.
Success also means he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.
His defensive approach and regular emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.
However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.
The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
